Course Description

This course is a qualification course that will appeal to people wanting to work or keep reptiles. The following units will be covered over 9 weeks. Live animals will be used during this course.

  • Identify reptiles
  • Identify and evaluate behavioural and housing needs
  • Catch, handle and restrain reptiles
  • Assist with health care needs
  • Feed reptiles
  • Maintain records

Course requirements:

Work ready clothing, work boots, long trousers and long sleeve shirt, broad rimmed hat and sunglasses. On enrolment you will be emailed further details regarding course requirement.

Course Commencement and Confirmation

Course fees must be paid before participation. The running of this course is subject to achieving a minimum of 15 participants.


There are no Government funded subsidies with this course. There are no concessions available.

Refunds and Cancellations

Cancellations advised in writing more than 7 days prior to the commencement of the course are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations advised within 7 days of the course, no refunds are made, but substitute delegate may attend.

How interactive and practical is the course?

This is an online course. It is an interactive and practical course and you have access to an experienced teacher with any enquiries. You will have sufficient time to complete all your assessments. This course includes interesting readings and work based practical assessment work to be completed. There will be written assessments, the development of an Animal care guide and competencies to complete that relate to Animal care activities.
